A curious observation

I paid $1.26 a gallon for gas today. That's the lowest I've seen it in two, maybe three years.

Now, the first thing that crossed my mind was the recognition that oil's price per barrel has fallen. But it's still not as low as it was two years ago - in fact, it's still above the average price for last year (~$50 per gallon).

I think I may go digging.

Hey Kirk, try 2.26. And your memory sucks, try late last year.

Yep. If I'd gone digging instead of getting swamped and sidetracked I'd have apologized for the error before you got to it. As it is...

Yep. $2.26. And I'm not the only one missing things - try early this year (according to http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_chart.gif , which is a later version of the same chart you posted but from the original source.)

mea culpa.
